Otterly thrilling news

For those otter fanciers amongst you, here's an update on the story that's really been preoccupying us for the last week or two - and there's a Hollywood angle.

I can't contemplate otters without remembering the ghastly trauma brought on by the last scene in "Ring of Bright Water" where the star otter, Midge, meets a sudden and violent death at the hands of an old man wielding a ditching spade. Apparently I let out a hideous wailing "Noooooooo!" which reverberated around the cinema in Oswestry. It's right up there with "Old Yeller" as a film not to take young animal-loving children to.

Sophie: That still haunts me. I can still picture the image of the man driving his spade down and feel the pang of extreme distress I experienced on seeing it. One of those films that I'd rather not have seen.
